Anna Bowen and I met virtually during the pandemic. She was writing the essay series Complicating Care. During our several Zoom conversations last year, I was reminded of the close relationship between the role of curating and caring. Both words are etymologically rooted in the Latin ‘curare’ = to arrange/see/attend to; to heal/cure; to provide for; take care of.
Last month, Anna’s thoughtfully-written article came out. She talks about #DecolonialFrequencies Festival and the reimagining of how festivals can be a site of attending, providing, and taking care. She interviewed Sky Deep, Anjeline Desiod, and Ariel William Orah and reflects on their sound and listening practices.
